Representatives from publishers and universities have agreed on a new collective agreement for the re-use of content in education, the so-called 'Easy Access-regeling'. This agreement is a major step towards facilitating educational institutions with minimal effort in terms of administration. The agreement applies to the years 2017 up to and including 2020.

Thanks to this collective agreement, users can now reuse content more easily for educational purposes, while the entitled parties receive a reasonable compensation for this use.

The agreements apply to all universities affiliated to the VSNU, including the medical faculties and all of the research schools and institutes under them.

Expansion current agreement
With the 'Easy Access-regeling', more reuse is arranged through a lump sum payment. Educational institutions may from now on use a maximum of 50 pages and a maximum of 25% of a work. All the use that is included here does not have to be applied for separately. In addition, universities no longer have to upload evidence copies, which severely reduces the administration. Universities provide insight into all the actual reuse during the contract period.

Permission for other use can easily be arranged via Stichting UvO.
